ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF LABOUR (SSS)

(The Office mentioned below is functioning at Assistant Commissioner of Labour, (Social Security Scheme), 19.Big Mill Street, Vijayapuram, Tiruvarur).

Departmental Activities

As per G.O.No.122 Labour and Employment Department, dated: 24.10.2008 and G.O.No.123, Labour and Employment Department, dated: 24.10.2008, Labour Officer, (Social Security Scheme) Posts had been created in all 32 districts of Tamil Nadu. In Tiruvarur District at District level this office is functioning with effect from 01.11.2008.

Registration, Renewal and all types of Claims had been received and reconciled for the funds disposal. Powers had also been delegated to the district officials to disburse these funds assistance to the members of the boards.

For Registration, a worker should have completed 18 years of age and not exceeding 60 years of age. Renewals are being made once in 5 years. To register the members in the board, the following documents should be enclosed

  1. Attested true copy of family card
  2. Passport size photographs – 3nos
  3. Attested true copy of the voter id and School certificates (for proof of age).

Name of the Boards functioning

The following Un Organised Workers Welfare Boards are functioning under the Supervision & Administration of the Assistant Commissioner of Labour, (Social Security Scheme),-(Previously Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Social Security Scheme), were called as Labour Officer(Social Security Scheme)), Tiruvarur District.

  6. Tamil Nadu Washer men Workers Welfare Board.
  7. Tamil Nadu Palm Tree Workers Welfare Board.
  8. Tamil Nadu Handicraft Workers Welfare Board.
  9. Tamil Nadu Handlooms Workers Welfare Board.
  10. Tamil Nadu Footwear Workers Welfare Board.
  11. Tamil Nadu Artist Workers Welfare Board
  12. Tamil Nadu Goldsmith Welfare Board
  13. Tamil Nadu Pottery Workers Welfare Board
  14. Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers Welfare Board

Funds are being allotted for Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board and Un Organised Workers Welfare Boards Separately.

Accidental Death Assistance

Rs.5,00,000/- being disbursed to the construction worker who are being met with an accident at worksite of construction; Rs.1,00,000/- being disbursed to the persons who are being met with an accident ordinarily other than worksite (both Construction and Manual Workers) and also Rs.5,000/- for Funeral Assistance in addition to the Accidental Death Assistance.

Accident Disability Assistance

Up to Rs.1,00,000/- being disbursed to the members of the board, according to the percentage of the disability certified by the Medical authority.

Natural Death Assistance

If a registered manual worker dies naturally, after due verification, Assistance will be paid to the nominee of the deceased worker a sum of Rs.20,000/- for the Natural Death and Rs.5,000/- for Funeral Assistance.

Educational Assistance

This benefit can avail for the son and daughter of the registered workers. For studying 10th standard Rs.1,000/- (only for the girl children); 10th standard Pass Rs.1,000/- (both children); For studying 11th standard Rs.1,000/- (only for the girl children); For studying 12th standard Rs.1,500/- (only for the girl children); 12th standard pass Rs. 1,500/- (both children).

Higher Education Assistance

For studying UG Courses Rs.1,500/- for without hostel and Rs.1,750/- for studying with hostel; for studying PG Courses Rs.4,000/- for without hostel and Rs.5,000/- for studying with hostel; for studying UG Technical Courses Rs.4,000/- for without hostel and Rs.6,000/- for studying with hostel; for studying PG Technical Courses Rs.6,000/- for without hostel and Rs.8,000/- for studying with hostel; for studying Diploma or ITI courses Rs.1,000/- for without hostel and Rs.1,200/- for studying with hostel.

Marriage Assistance

Rs.3,000/- being given for Male Member’s Marriage and son of the Member and Rs.5,000/- being given for Female Member’s Marriage and daughter of the Member.

Maternity Assistance

Rs.3000/- being given to the beneficiary during the time of the 7th month of Pregnancy and Rs.3000/- being given to the beneficiary after delivery. This assistance will be given to the first two children of the member of the board.

Rs.3000/- being given to the beneficiary.

    or Termination of Pregnancy.

Spectacles

Rs.500/- being given to beneficiary.

  3. Certificate from registered ophthalmologist.
  4. Cash bill of Spectacles
  5. True copy of Family card,
  6. Nationalised Bank Account Number (photocopy of bank pass book 1st page)

Pension

Monthly Rs.1000/- being given to the members of the board who had attained the age of 60 years.

Family Pension

Monthly Rs.400/- is being given to the spouse of deceased Member of the Construction board.
