Land Development Scheme:-

Objectives: –

The department Bulldozers, Tractors Combine Harvesters and Paddy Transplanters are hired out to farmers at nominal rates for taking up land development activities in their fields

  1. To make irrigation and other farm operations efficient and easier, land leveling and land shaping are taken up in farmers lands and thereby to increase more area under cultivation and to increase food production.
  2. To supplement the “Farm Power” requirements of farmers for taking up timely cultivation operation.

Minor Irrigation Scheme:

Objectives: –

Under Minor Irrigation sector, the department Rotary Drills, Mini Drills and Hand Boring Sets are hired out to farmers at nominal rates for taking up minor irrigation activities in their fields.
To bring new areas under irrigation by creating additional irrigation facilities.

  1. To stabilize the areas already under irrigation
  2. Promoting conjunctive use of surface water and ground water by harnessing ground water resources
  3. To help farmers in locating suitable site through Geo-physical survey for sinking of tube wells.

2. Installation of Solar Pumpsets :

4.Agricultural Mechanization Programme

Objectives:-

  1. Generally to increase production two times and profit by three times
  2. promote mechanization in agriculture
  3. To popularise the Agricultural Machinery / implements among the farmers
  4. To meet out the shortage of agricultural labourers and to bridge the gap between the farm labours and Agricultural activities
  5. To ensure timeliness in carrying out farm operations
  6. To supplement the available farm power
    Details of Works:- Subsidy assistance is provided to farmers for purchasing Agricultural Machinery and implements such as Tractors, Power Tillers and Rotavators etc.,

5 ) Mission on Sustainable Dry Land Agriculture

Under the MSDA Programme Agricultural Engineering Department Carrying out the following works in Tiruvarur District during this year 2017-18 :

  1. Ploughing for 4000 Hectares with subsidy @ Rs.1250/- per Hectare.
  2. Entry Point Programme works as Village Pond 4 Nos. constructed at Rs.20.00 Lakhs
  3. Village level Machinery Banks (Custom Hiring Centres) 4 Nos. established with a subsidy of Rs.32.00 Lakhs.
  4. 25 Nos. of Farm Pond are being constructed as Water Harvesting Structures in Rs.35.00 Lakhs ( Works in progress)
  5. Value addition machineries at the cost of Rs.10 lakhs will be supplied to the MSDA cluster.

 Formation of Farm Ponds  All the farmers  Works in patta lands are taken up with 90 % grant and the remaining 10% is collected as beneficiary share (it is 5% in case of SC/ST) in the form of Cash / labour / material.

3 Nos. of Farm Ponds constructed and 12 Nos. of Farm pond constructions in progress under TNAIMP and 2200 Nos. of Farm Ponds proposed for the year 2018-19.

The Department is fully focused on Land Development, Minor Irrigation, Farm Mechanization and Soil and Water Conservation activities, to help farming community to Sustainable increase in agricultural production.
